Our Premier League World XI: The Snubs of the World
The announcement of the World XI by FIFPRO was instantly criticized for its lack of Premier League players. Here is our Premier League World XI whom we believe can compete and win against the FIFPRO XI.When choosing teams like this, it is often hard to do because there are more than one deserving players at each position. What we came up with was the best starting XI and subs that we could think of. Our formation is an attacking one – 4-3-3, and one this is certain, this group would score goals.
Starting at the back, we felt it was best to give the nod to
Joe Hart
. Despite his team’s poor form as of late and his embarrassing run-in with Zlatan Ibrahimovic during England’s friendly against Sweden earlier this season, he has proven that he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. He has conceded 19 goals in 21 appearances with 8 clean sheets thus far. Hugo Lloris was a close second having an incredible year for Tottenham which has them sitting at 3rd in the league. Unfortunately, he was second only to Hart and finds himself in the subs.
The best defense in the Premier League contains
Cole
,
Vertonghen
,
Baines
, and
Zabaleta
in the first team. They have all been strong in the back for their teams and are all sitting very nicely on the table right now. Each player we chose is specifically a strong presence in the back but also supportive attacking. Together these four have 7 goals and 5 assists to go along with their collective 23 clean sheets. Due to his lack of games in the campaign so far, Vidic finds himself on the bench. This is nothing against his form because he has played exceptionally well in his appearances but we felt he hadn’t made enough to break into the first team.
Our midfield is incredibly offensive, but talented. Together they have 30 goals and have each made a name for themselves throughout the campaign thus far. The three midfielders we chose for our first team are
Gareth Bale
,
Michu
, and
Marouane Fellaini
. These three have proven that they are undoubtedly the three best midfielders in the Premier League at this stage in the season. On the bench, you will find Santi Cazorla, Juan Mata, and Steven Gerrard. All played really well and meant the most to their teams early in the season but could not crack into the starting XI.
The attacking third of the field was the easiest to choose. It doesn’t take a genius in football to figure out that
Robin Van Persie
and
Luis Suarez
are the two best strikers in the Barclay’s Premier League. Picking those two up front was the easiest decision I’ll have to make for some time, but picking the third was not easy. Due to how hungry he is to get goals, it had to be
Demba Ba
. He has scored consistently for Newcastle and then has showed he can score with Chelsea as well. Together, these players have a total of 44 goals and have been outstanding for their clubs. Wayne Rooney finds himself on the bench due to lack of game time, but he has also been great for his club.
